Green Ocean Energy to Attend the Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference
Author:
Recently, Green Ocean Energy registered a renewable project on this website becoming one of the many companies that have registered in the running up to the Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference on the 28th and 29th of September 2010. Green Ocean energy is seeking investment to fund their latest offshore wave energy device, Wave Treader.
Wave Treader
Green Ocean Energy specialises in marine energy and has since 2007 been developing the Wave Treader, which is a unique wave energy device that attaches to the transition piece of an offshore wind turbine. The Wave Treader, currently projected at over 700kW peak power rating, has so far produced very promising results and in 2010 Green Ocean Energy finalised the full scale design of the Wave Treader and is now looking to do a full scale test of the product.

We had a chance to ask Graeme Bell, Chief Executive Officer a few questions...
Q. Can you tell us about your funding requirements?
A. Green Ocean Energy is looking to raise £6m in this funding round to build a fully functioning test site, fabrication, installation and start the testing of the full scale Wave Treader in the UK in 2011 through to Q1 2012.Commercialisation of the technology is planned in 2015/16.
Green Ocean Energy will require additional funding after Q1 2012 to continue product development up until the commercialisation stage, as well as, initiate the commercial production and deployment of the Wave Treader.
Q. What types of investors are you seeking?
A. Ideally, we are looking to partner up with any clean tech investors, possibly with previous experience within renewable investment, especially offshore. We would like them to be able to fund round 1 and all or part of round 2. Though we are mainly looking for clean tech investors we are also very keen to make contact with other funders including local councils that are looking to go down the renewable route.
Q. What do you see as the Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference's unique advantage?
A. The Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference has managed to establish a high political profile with the Scottish government supporting the project. Another great thing is that you are focussing solely on Scottish development projects harnessing Scotland’s unique position for renewable energy resources, especially offshore energy.
Does this or other renewables investment opportunities interest you? Book your place at the conference here or register your investment interest here and you will be able to meet Graeme Bell at the conference and discuss this in further depth with him.
